What is a Tennis Bracelet?

What is it about tennis bracelets anyway? Are they supposed to be worn while you're playing tennis, and that's why they're called tennis bracelets? No, that's not it. For many years they were known as inlaid bracelets, and it has only been more recently that they've become known as the 'tennis bracelet'.

How this came about:

Over twenty years ago, in 1987, during the Tennis Open Chris Evert, a famous tennis player back then, was wearing an in-laid bracelet, complete with sparkling diamonds. Maybe she was hoping to distract her partners, I don't know. Anyway, apparently during one of her matches the bracelet came open or it broke or something and all the diamonds scattered over the court. Naturally, she stopped the game and went on a search to retrieve all of her bracelet pieces back.

This caused no small stir amongst her fans and other onlookers. And, believe it or not, since that time the 'inlaid bracelet' has come to be known as the Tennis bracelet! All because of one bracelet that popped open during a famous tennis tournament.

I think there is a lesson to be learned here however, and that is that if you do wear a bracelet you probably should always get a safety chain for it, as that can help the bracelet not to fall off your arm should the clasp pop open. Of course, it wouldn't help much if the whole bracelet fell apart, but it is worthwhile getting if you invest any money into jewelry.

Gold CZ Tennis bracelets

Can't decide whether to get a cubic zirconia tennis bracelet? Well, I think you should. Why? Simply because they really are a fashion statement right now, and they only seem to be growing in popularity. One thing that has made them really much more fashionable is that they are now also much more affordable.

Think about it! Originally the tennis bracelet was set with only precious stones--usually diamonds. How many women can afford a diamond tennis bracelet? Not many, to be sure. But now that cubic zirconias have surfaced and their cost is well within reach for most people, all of a sudden the tennis bracelet has also become affordable, and thus very popular.

They do look very nice, they really sparkle when you wear them and have a very elegant and classy look to them, so for that reason alone I think every girl should own one so she can wear it whenever she's dressing up. They may not be for everyday wear, but you really couldn't go wrong if you wear them to more formal occasions.
